UK-FOOD [MARKET] St. Nicholas Market

St Nicholas Market
The Exchange, Corn Street, Bristol BS1 1JQ

Google it then you will find a lot of information about it. It's reported as one of the 'Top 10 markets in the UK' by the Guardian. There's Weekly Market, The Glass Arcade and The Corn Exchange. Food stands only open Monday to Saturday. Around 11:00-15:00. If you are there too late then you won't find much food left. This is our favorite market for lunch in Bristol! Italian, Eat a Pitta, Juice Bar, Bristol Sausage Shop, Portuguese Taste, Olive Company, Pie Minister, Caribbean Wrap...... So many different brilliant street food! Every Friday on Corn Street also has Friday food market which means more food stands available!!! If you miss this market don't tell anyone you've come to Bristol......

Caribbean Wrap. The food was too delicious so I forgot to take photo before eating it.

   Fresh Juice Bar.

The food is around £5 a meal. There's just too many choices. Every time I go there I always want to have different food! You just can't find anything not nice there......

UK-FOOD [RESTAURANT] Rocco's

Rocco's
4a Gloucester Road, Bristol BS7 8AE

Price: £4-16

As an Italian restaurant, Rocco's is a popular, affordable and typical Italian restaurant in Bristol. We found it on the internet as my birthday dinner place.

The food will never make you down. Just feel like you are in Italy as the staffs there are most Italian. But they do have few admin problems as our last visit, although we've rang them for reservation, they were shocked when we arrived (apparently they forgot to put our name). So the restaurant ended up fitting sort of tight and crowded. And we ordered some bread but they forgot to serve. Also our starter was later than main dish...... But they did apologize about it....

   The restaurant front photo.

My main dish was seafood risotto and H had pizza which he said is bloody good.

Although the service was not incredibly good but the waitresses were kind and polite. We don't feel any problem about their mistake anyway. The restaurant was fully booked on a Saturday evening. The environment is cosy and nice. :)

UK-FOOD [PUB] [SUNDAY ROAST] Hillgrove Porter Stores

Hillgrove Porter Stores
53 Hillgrove St N, BS2 8LT

Price: Sunday roast £8-10

This pub is like some pubs in the UK which only offer Sunday Roast as their food menu. A really cosy and small local pub. They accept reservation after 2pm. When you ring them you have to tell them which roast you want to order. Our experience is, the reservation only reserve 'food' not 'seat'. Better arrive early otherwise you just can't find a seat....

Sunday roast always have meat and vegetarian option.

They have quite a few nice local craft beer. Always a good choice for a night out with friends.

[Updates]

We visited Hillgrove again for Sunday Roast. We didn't make reservation this time but we went there around 5pm. It was a nice day so we sat at the gardens. I had chicken roast and H had vegetarian as always.

Hillgrove's roast is famous of the garlic roast as you can see on the photos. It does taste really nice but also very strong. Both times I can only had maximum 3 gloves then I have to stop. Otherwise I wouldn't dare to open my mouth again after food ha!

Hillgrove is also the first pub we eat which offers apple sauce. Someone was really happy about that and almost finish half of the jar.....

UK-FOOD [PUB] The Pipe & Slippers

Pipe & Slippers
118 Cheltenham Road, Stokes Croft, Bristol BS6 5RW

Price: Sunday Roast £8-10

We found this pub on tripadvisor for Sunday roast. In the UK almost all the pubs offer nice Sunday roast. It's a shame that we didn't know about Sunday roast until we've lived here for 4 months.

This Pub is kind of at the bottom of Stokes Croft. Also has live music at night which attracts loads of people as a night out. Excellent craft beers. Great music.

My beef roast. This is the only roast I had without peas ha!

Sunday morning is not too busy. We arrived early and had a great spot.

Around Bristol there's a lot of pubs offers great roast. We always go to different ones and you just can't find anything wrong with them. :)))
